The idea behind the Pillow Pets is pretty simple: it's a cuddly plush stuffed animal that doubles as pillow. The Pillow Pet “pops open” and stretches out into a full-sized, plush-lined pillow. If this sounds a little gruesome, it isn't: the animals' big plush arms come together in front to form a regular stuffed animal, but when you pull them apart, they stretch out into a plush pillow. Arms velcro closed – but don't worry, a soft cloth patch covers the velcro when the arms are unfolded so that your child won't be scratched or irritated.

Pillow Pets come in a variety of different animals. Some of the post popular include the unicorn, panda, penguin, dolphin, dog, ladybug, monkey and turtle, though these are just a few of the many different stuffed animal designs. You can also get Pillow Pets representing the mascots or wearing the colors of your favorite sports teams.

Although sizes vary, most Pillow Pets are between 16” and 18”, with plenty of stuffing and plush to go around. They are made of ultra-soft plush and designed to be about as cute as possible, scientifically speaking. Most feature small parts (bead eyes, plastic whiskers, etc.), so they are not recommended for children under the age of 3 years.

Pillow Pets are machine washable, so you can feel free to let your children sleep on them and play around with them without having to worry about them getting dirty or sweaty. One of the unique downsides of a stuffed animal pillow is that it can get sweaty! The soft and cuddly plush has a tendency to hold in heat, which means that while your child probably won't care or notice, you'll find a damp, sweaty Pillow Pet on some mornings.
